Christmas has come to The Art Shop and The Long Winter Show is now open…

Upstairs in the gallery, an eclectic collection of paintings, drawings, printmaking, sculpture, automata, jewellery, and ceramics.

(Click here to read more and see a selection of artwork on our exhibitions page)

Downstairs our shop is brimming with special gifts…wrappings, ribbons, artist’s cards, bespoke art kits – colouring, drawing, painting and writing – and beautiful children’s activity and story books. Truly something for everyone and perhaps a few unexpected surprises too…

Our cupboard for children is decorated with hand cut Khadi paper, crepe paper and our sumptuous platinum tissue. Inside you’ll find old favourites such as the Dover Coloured Fairy Tales alongside new award winning illustrated titles.

Visit our online shop or come and see us. Don’t forget Late Night Shopping Thursday December 12th, when the best independent shops in town will be open until 8pm.

Now available from our online shop three of our best selling books on drawing. It is hard to find really good art technique books that explore contemporary practice and process in an inspiring and revealing way. These are our firm favourites…

The Drawing Book by Sarah Simblet – a comprehensive guide for beginner or expert. Will take you through the basics onto more advanced techniques.

‘Drawing Projects – an exploration of the language of drawing’ – the best book around to learn about freedom of expression through mark making.

‘Drawing and Painting People – a Fresh Approach’ – an unpretentious and non-academic approach to drawing and painting. Will allow you to become more expressive and adventurous, building confidence by taking risks.
