Matt & Amanda Caines – Parade of Puppets

This year as part of our Abergavenny Food Festival celebrations, we have invited artists, Matt and Amanda Caines to create something completely unique outside in front of our shop.

They are transforming their Pop -Up Stall into an extraordinary Theatre of events…

…Puppet making workshops for children and adults. All ingredients supplied for printmaking, drawing, collaging and embellishing. Just turn up and assemble your own magical puppet. With an exhibition of Matt and Amanda’s artwork, including small kinetic scrimshaw work, hand carved and engraved and larger puppet works (see images).

Don’t forget to come inside and enjoy our delicious spread!

Front room upstairs

Our new exhibition Magical Thinking is now open and runs until 26th October.

It is such a pleasure to be showing this first solo show by Philippa Robbins, a new, emerging talent. Paintings, drawings, Mexican tin nichos, Russian dolls, maquettes… this really is a whole cast of supporting works.

Marceline – acrylic on board in tin nicho

Marceline (see image left) is a beautiful Devon Rex kitten, just a few months old, belonging to Philippa’s daughter. She became something of a celebrity at the private view, quietly sitting upstairs away from the bussle but happily welcoming visitors, so affectionate.

See below for more images of the gallery and works…
