‘Absent Presence‘ – The domestic interior of The Art Shop is filled with the images of solitary cacti, empty children’s dresses and small paintings of empty tablet packets… This is very much an exhibition about a woman’s connection to her world. PHILIPPA ROBBINS presents paintings, paper-scrolls, drawings and lazer cuts which might lead the viewer to look for the presence in what remains. Visit our exhibition page for more information. Runs until Saturday 1st June.

Populated with corvids, “the dark stars of the bird world,” puppets, and relics of infancy recalling the delights and fears of childhood.

Philippa’s show includes paintings, drawings, a cast of puppets with their own hand painted passport photos and small installations…. continues until 11th March.

Our new exhibition Magical Thinking is now open and runs until 26th October.

It is such a pleasure to be showing this first solo show by Philippa Robbins, a new, emerging talent. Paintings, drawings, Mexican tin nichos, Russian dolls, maquettes… this really is a whole cast of supporting works.

Marceline – acrylic on board in tin nicho

Marceline (see image left) is a beautiful Devon Rex kitten, just a few months old, belonging to Philippa’s daughter. She became something of a celebrity at the private view, quietly sitting upstairs away from the bussle but happily welcoming visitors, so affectionate.

See below for more images of the gallery and works…

I am completely self contained, ready for travel… and I can even continue working in bed its so portable!’

See one of Amanda’s embroidery pieces below.  A collection of her jewellery is now on display in our summer show.
